Copy of a letter from [James] Craggs [the younger; Secretary of State] to Customs. Reference to a box found to contain the ratifications of a treaty between the King and foreign Princes. Craggs complains of Customs officers delaying the King's messengers and damaging their papers in searching for contraband. Requesting that orders may be given to restrain them from such action in future. Dated at Whitehall [Middlesex, London]. See also SP 35/13/44.
