[George] Tilson to [Charles] Delafaye regarding various office matters. Tilson also discusses the content of a letter sent from Turin. 'As I am writing another express arrives which only confirms the substance of what we had before. The letter from Turin (24 Aug.) says but one Spanish ship is got away. I see what Consul Fleetwood sent is the same Count Maffis wrote to the King of Sicily, all the difference I understand is that nine were sunk, two burnt, four taken, twelve blocked up and one run away towards Malta. An Officer, Sir G Byng's son I suppose, was come to Turin, who said those twelve ships had surrendered at discretion.' Dated at Hampton Court.
