Description

Prisoner name: Elizabeth Milstead and Jane Steer.

Prisoner age: Milstead aged 'about 23 years' and Steer aged 21 years.

Prisoner occupation: Both servants.

Court and date of trial: Westminster Sessions, [Middlesex], December 1838.

Crime: Larceny. Stealing a quantity of blond quilling and blond lace, value of 15/-, the property of Benjamin Harvey, Knightsbridge.

Initial sentence: Four months imprisonment, part solitary confinement.

Gaoler's report: 'Nil'.

Petitioner(s): Francis Milstead of [Stilling] near Canterbury, [Kent], father of Elizabeth Milstead, undersigned by the prosecutor and the prisoners' master Captain R W Eastwick, Ann's Place, Chelsea.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): The prisoners are both of previous good character.
