Description

Prisoner name: Frederick Elmer, convicted as Frederick Armond (or Frederick Almond).

Prisoner age: 28 years.

Court and date of trial: Warwick County Lent Assizes, March 1837.

Crime: Forgery. Forging and uttering a £20 note. Victims, James Beck manager of Coventry and Warwickshire Banking Company, and George Perton [jeweller].

Initial sentence: Transportation for life.

Gaoler's report: 'Character not known. Respectable connexions'.

Annotated (Outcome): 'Nil'.

Petitioner(s): The prisoner, undersigned by 34 supporters.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): The prosecution witness is unreliable and the prosecution case is incorrect.

Additional Information: Prisoner sent to Fortitude convict hulk. Prisoner tried with George Williams.
