Description

Prisoner name: John Clark (or John Clarke) also known as John Powell.

Prisoner age: 14 years.

Court and date of trial: Old Bailey, 28 February 1837.

Crime: Uttering forged order from Coster and Company of Aldermabury.

Initial sentence: 14 years transportation.

Gaoler's report: 'Twice before convicted'.

Annotated (Outcome): 'Nil'.

Petitioner(s): The prisoner's mother Ann Powell of 2 Sebright Street, Hackney Road, Bethnal Green, undersigned by seven supporters attesting to her honesty and industry.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): The prisoner is an only son of a respectable widowed mother; the prisoner is young and has been lead astray by bad characters; the prisoner is not physically strong.

Additional Information: Prisoner sent to Euryalus convict hulk.
