Prisoner name: James Dabin.
Prisoner age: 18 years.
Prisoner occupation: Servant.
Court and date of trial: Kent Lent Assizes, Maidstone, March 1836.
Crime: Stealing in a dwelling house, 12 sovereigns from Mr Stokes.
Initial sentence: Transportation for life.
Gaoler's report: 'Prosecutor [represents] his belief that prisoner was ordered to commit this offence to obtain means to employ counsel for the defence of his mother who has been convicted of felony'.
Annotated (Outcome): 'Ordered to Penitentiary 30 May 1836. Sentence reduced to 7 years.'
