Administrative / biographical background

When the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic separated in 1993 (as part of the Velvet Revolution), a Director (Slovakia) for the British Council office was appointed. Prior to 1993, activities in Slovakia were managed by the British Council?s Representative (Czechoslovakia), or (as with other member states of the USSR) were coordinated by the Soviet Relations Committee.
