data.gov.uk is a UK Government project to make available non-personal UK government data as open data. It was launched in closed beta version on 30 September 2009 and when the project was officially launched in January 2010 it contained 2,500 data sets after more than 2,400 developers had registered to test the site, provide feedback and start experimenting with the data.
As of February 2015 data.gov.uk contained over 19,000 data sets from various UK government departments, with all data being non-personal and provided in a format that allows it to be reused.
