Description

This series contains registered files produced by the various departments that have managed the Crown's foreshore in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, showing details of sales, acquisitions, and leases of use of, or passage across the Crown's marine foreshore, Crown territorial seabed, and tidal foreshore in the Rivers Thames and Tees.

For information on the appraisal and selection decisions applied to records in this series, see Operational Selection Policy OSP 2, The Crown Estate, 1975-1985.

Arrangement
Arrangement

By former file reference within each accession. The six figure registry codes used for most files in this series are split into three groups of two numbers each, where the first two numbers represent a county or river code. So, files whose former reference begins 01 will always refer to Northumberland foreshore, 02 to Durham, and so on. The 63 code refers to general dredging matters, and there are miscellaneous files relating to the foreshore in Northern Ireland, and to general foreshore matters, and these have five figure references not split into groups, and are arranged at the end of each year's accession.
