Crime: Housebreaking, namely stealing goods from the shop of Mr Batchelor at Hackney Road [Shoreditch, Middlesex] to the value of two pence.

Annotated (Outcome): 'Sentence commuted to a private whipping and seven years transportation'; 'Considered at Report in Council 10 June 1833'.
Petitioner(s): Mary White (widowed mother) undersigned by Thomas Batchelor prosecutor and 10 inhabitants of [Shoreditch].
Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): First offence; led astray by evil disposed lads; his mother is poor and obliged to be at work from morning to night.
Other papers: Separate gaoler's letter from Mr Wontner [Governor of Newgate Gaol] stating that the convict is not known to belong to a gang of thieves but has been previously committed to the House of Correction for thefts.
