Petitioner(s): Edward Poole (Mayor of Hereford) undersigned by 53 inhabitants of that city, including the committing magistrate and [the prosecutor]. Thomas Bird (county magistrate) transmitting the petition.
Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Previous good character; his age; no felonious intent as the bullock was lame and of little value; he was hired to drive the bullock to a field some miles away and became answerable for the animal's care at 1/- for a few days but his employer never visited the field's owner, leaving him 4/- out of pocket so he sold it to the credit of his account with his employer; he could not afford counsel to defend him.
Other papers: Judge's report on the case.
