Description

Prisoner name: Henry Mottram.

Prisoner age: 24 or 25 years.

Court and date of trial: Montgomeryshire Lent Assizes, March 1833.

Crime: Horse stealing in February or March 1833.

Initial sentence: Transportation for life.

Gaoler's report: 'Very bad character, in prison before at Gloucester and other places'.

Annotated (Outcome): 'On board Discovery' [convict hulk]. 'Nil'.

Petitioner(s): W Jackson.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): He has a wife and infant child; employed [and misled] by Morrison Richards to sell the horse not knowing it to have been stolen.
