Section 29 of the Settled Land Act 1925 provided that all land vested or to be vested on or for charitable, ecclesiastical or public trusts or purposes was deemed to be settled land and that the trustees had all the powers of a tenant for life conferred by the Act in reference to the land.
Section 29(4) of the 1925 Act provided for the new procedures of enrolment previously provided by sections 6 and 9 of the Mortmain and Charitable Uses Act 1888.
Following the recommendation of the Nathan Committee the law of mortmain was repealed by the Charities Act 1960.
