Description

These are letters to the Admiralty from foreign consuls in Britain. In wartime they are almost entirely requests for the discharge of their nationals impressed into the Navy. Similar requests by ambassadors or heads of mission and forwarded by a Secretary of State are in ADM 1/4278 (1697-1708) and ADM 1/4080-4277 (1689-1839).
