This small collection of letters from officers on the Impress (i.e. recruiting) Service has for some reason been isolated from the great majority of such correspondence, which is among Captains' or Lieutenants' letters. The letters of 1815 and 1816 are from the General Rendezvous (i.e. headquarters) for London, on Tower Hill. Some similar correspondence, 1777-1790, is in ADM 1/5117/9 and 5118/10.
