The British Council had an office in the Congo from 1941 to 1944, again from 1961 to 1967, and from 1976 to 1980 there was a council representative attached to the British Embassy in Kinshasa. The representatives were engaged in promoting cultural and educational relations between the United Kingdom and the Congo.
