Series is complete
A completely new edition of the one-inch (1:63,360) map of Great Britain - the Seventh Series - was authorised in 1947 and was to be based on field revision undertaken at 1:10,560 scale. A primary objective was to provide the whole of Great Britain with a uniform series of maps: owing to the recommendations of the Davidson Committee followed by the interruptions of war, such coverage had not been available since the Fourth Edition. The basic sheet layout of the Sixth Edition was retained, although some changes were made to enhance the readability of the Seventh Series.
