Folio 664. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to William Oates, Guardian, Sutton in Ashfield, Mansfield Poor Law Union, regarding his letter of 30 June 1683, signed by Oates, Mr Greenhalgh and Mr John Stendall, Guardians for the parish of Mansfield and Hucknall under Huthwaite.
The application for re-opening the Mansfield Union's audit of their accounts for the half year ending Michaelmas 1862, because of the alleged erroneous charges made to the accounts by the guardians, have been considered by the Board and the decisions of the Court of the Queen's Bench in Reg v Chiddingstone [Kent], [31 LJR n.s. MC 121] and the present case have found insufficient grounds for re-opening the case; assuming that this could be done legally which the Board doubt.
