Folios 661-662. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to Thomas Alcock, ratepayer, Mansfield Woodhouse, Mansfield Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of his letter of 27 September 1863. They forward for his information a copy of a letter that they have sent to the overseer's of Sutton in Ashfield, in the Mansfield Union, on the subject of re-opening the Mansfield Union accounts for the half year ended Michaelmas 1862.
Also enclosed is a copy of the draft letter from the Poor Law Board, to Mr Samuel Littlewood and Mr Charles Oscroft, Overseers and Mr Kirk, Assistant Overseer, Sutton in Ashfield. It states that the Board have considered the application contained in their letters of 11 June 1863 and 15 July 1863, regarding the erroneous amounts charged by the guardians of the Mansfield Union and in accordance with Reg v Chiddingstone, [Kent], [31 LJR n.s. MC 121; 2 B & S 294] and the circumstances of the present case, they do not think there is sufficient grounds for re-opening the accounts.
