Folio 305. Letter from W E Goodacre, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, responding to the Board's letter of [24 December 1862] regarding valuation lists and quoting reference no 45038. He informs the Board that there is no difficulty, apart from the delay in providing the lists. Despite it being three months since the committee has been appointed and the expiry date being [15 January 1863], only three lists have been sent in.
Annotated: acknowledge and state that statute does not contain provision imposing penalty on overseers for their neglect unless they had been wilfully negligent, in which case they could be prosecuted under statute 33 Geo 3 c 55 for neglect of duty.
