Folios 580-581. Letter from Robert Bowler, Assistant Overseer, Warsop, Mansfield Poor Law Union, replying of letter date [31 January 1853.] Bowler states he has complied with article 8 of the General Order of Accounts to the best of his knowledge. When monies collected have reached £50 he has paid it over to one of the overseers. [William Power, District Auditor for Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire] states he should pay any money over every two or three days even if it is a small amount. Bowler states that if that is the meaning of article 8 he is happy to comply. He goes on to state he has been assistant overseer and collector of all rates for 21 years and he also has bondsmen. Bowler states if he does at anytime err in his position of assistant overseer it is not wilful and is very much obliged to the authorities that he is under to instruct him.
