Folio 192. Letter from H Place, Collector, Sutton in Ashfield, [Mansfield Poor Law Union], to the Poor Law Board. He states that the act 13& 14 Vict c 99 has been adopted in this parish and the owners of small tenements have not given notice of an intention to compound as they were not aware they needed to do so. On behalf of the overseers he asks if they may overlook this unintentional omission and compound with the owners in the same way as if notice had been given.
Annotated: the overseers have no legal authority to make any composition.
