Folio 189. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board, to J Pym, Clerk to the Guardians of the Belper Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of his letter of 26 February in reply to the Board's letter of 19 February. The Board regret that the guardians of the Belper Union did not seek further explanation from the guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union as to the grounds on which they objected to [William Harris] and [William Straw] being bound apprentices to Henry Winter. The certificates relied on by the guardians are too readily obtained to be satisfactory guarantees. The consideration of the guardians should be given to making the master, if possible, amenable for his conduct under the provisions of 7& 8 Vict c 101 s 12.
Paper Number: 10267/1851.
Poor Law Union Number: 337.
Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
