This series contains maps deposited with the Forestry Commission under the New Forest Act 1949 s 4(6) and the New Forest Act 1964 s 2(5), formerly held in PRO record series F 2. The base maps used were Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 sheets. A key to the sheets used is in F 2/292. Each set of maps was accompanied by an historical introduction; these remain in the parent series: F 2/1 and F 2/303.
