Description

Envelope, marked 'West Country', first of four mounted on card typed 'Southern Railway 4-6-2' with '28' on reverse, containing six images of Southern Railway 'West Country' and 'Battle of Britain' class 4-6-2 locomotives:

1) Monochrome photographic postcard by Photo-Precision, St Albans, with printed caption on face, locomotive No 21C17 'Ilfracombe' [image c.1946], 8cm x 13cm.

2) Monochrome photograph with manuscript notes on reverse, No 21C101 'Exeter' on 'Devon Belle' all-'Pullman train at Exeter St Davids station alongside Great Western Railway 2-6-0 No 6397, by W H Stone 1 September 1947, 8cm x 13cm.

3) Monochrome photographic postcard by Photo-Precision, St Albans, with printed caption on face, no 21C151 'Winston Churchill' [image c.1947], 8cm x 13cm.

4) Monochrome photograph with manuscript notes on reverse, British Railways No 34006 'Bude' on train at Bristol Temple Meads station, Western Region, during locomotive interchange trials, by W H Stone 14 July 1948, 8cm x 13cm.
