Typescript copy of extract from 'Southern Railway Magazine', July/August 1942, page 87. In reply to a reader's request the full list of named engines in service on the London, Chatham and Dover Railway in service on 31 December 1899 is given. Below is a list of names of engines scrapped before the amalgamation with the South Eastern Railway on 1 January 1899. Note that 1889 has been entered in error.
