Folios 683-685. Letter from W E Goodacre, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, enclosing particulars of four men granted outdoor relief.
Named are George Burton, Sawyer, 34, wife Amelia Burton, 33, Emma Burton, 9, Joseph Burton, 7, Ellen Burton, 3, Elizabeth Burton, infant. Granted 3s and 2 loaves for two weeks, the workhouse being nearly full.
Also William Moules, Stocking Maker, 40, wife Isabella, 39, John Moules, 11, Robert Moules, 9, James Moules, 7, Ann Moules, 5, Walter Moules, 4. Granted 3s and 4 loaves for four weeks, the man being sickly and unfit for outdoor labour.
All the above chargeable to Mansfield.
Also William Allsop, Stocking Maker, 38, wife Mary Allsop, 34, Eliza Allsop,12, Joseph Allsop, 10, Samuel Allsop, 7, Alice Allsop, 4, Priscilla Allsop, 1. Relief given to value 3s 4d, there being no food in the house and the man gone to work for the Duke of Portland for a week.
