Folio 495. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to W E Goodacre, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, acknowledging his letter of 27 October 1860 regarding the payment claim from Doctor Powell, [Edward Powell, Medical Officer], for examination and certificate for Frances Foxton, a supposed lunatic. The Board state that the guardians are only responsible for Foxton if she is a pauper as in Article 205, number 3 of the General Order. The Board cannot express an opinion as to whether Powell has a claim against the relieving officer or any other person. They enclose the bill and certificate [not included].
