Petition of Alexander McKenzie of Frazerdale [Frasserdale, Fraserdale, Fraiserdale], prisoner in Carlisle, claiming he was forced into rebellion by [Jacobite] neighbours the Earl of Seaforth, and Clan McDonald.
Enclosing:
1. Depositions and affidavits of John Miller, writer, of Dunkeld [Perthshire]; 'James Cameron in Middle Cairny', servant to Christian Robertson, innkeeper at Dunkeld; Charles Steuart, merchant and late Baillie of Perth; and William Fleeming [Fleming], apothecary, of Perth, stating that they saw McKenzie at the time of Battle of Sheriffmuir. Dated 27 and 29 August 1716 at Perth [Perthshire].
2. Affidavit of McKenzie's former servants, William Fraser of Inchbury, Fraserdale, Inverness-shire; Patrick Boog [signs Booge], of Edinburgh; Rotherick [signs Roderick] Brown of Edinburgh, servant to Sir Thomas Bruce; and William White, of Edinburgh, servant to Lord Edward Murray, mentioning McKenzie's wife, a kinsman of Lord Athole, Lord Seaforth, the Mackintosh clan, and Lord Sutherland; and Castle Downy, near Inverness [Inverness-shire] Pitlockrie [Pitlochry, Perthshire], Blair Castle [Perthshire], and Nairn [Nairnshire]. Dated 20 December 1716.
