Petition for pardon [for Jacobite links] from Patrick Auchmutty [or Auchmoutie, signs Auchmoute], servant of the late [William] Earl of Marshale [Marischale of Scotland] and then to his son [George], mentioning his arrest, by the Duke of Athol, despite surrendering under terms of Proclamation published by General Cadogan. Certified by Lord Edward Murray deputy lieutenant of Perthshire, Baron Leckok, and the commander at Castle Blair [Perthshire] Gen Baron van Pallant.
Enclosing:
1. Certificate of Robert Craigie, Deputy Sheriff of Perthshire, outlining how he implemented Cadogan's Proclamation, mentioning Duke of Atholl and General Sabine. Dated December 24 at Carlisle [Cumberland].
2. Affidavit of William Burnet of Criochie [?], Kincardineshire, and John Corsar, of Edinburgh. Dated 19 December 1716 at Carlisle.
