Met officers who were recruiting for the regiments of Lord Orrery and Colonel Pocock. Surprise at the lack of support from the city for King George. Students attack the officers and drink to the Old Pretender's [James Edward Stewart] health. According to a man Mason met, at least two-thirds of the University are not well disposed towards King George. Mason is glad to have left 'une ville infame et jacobite'.
