Folio 157. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Robert Weale, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, in which they acknowledge receipt of a letter, dated 8 July 1847, which enclosed a copy of a letter received by him from William Linwood, Presbyterian Minister, and editor of the Nottingham Review, newspaper, relating to alleged improper treatment by the Mansfield Poor Law Union Workhouse Master, of a pauper, named Tallents, an applicant for relief at the workhouse. The Commission advise that they will wait for a report from Weale, after the proposed investigation at the Mansfield Poor Law Union Workhouse, next Thursday.
