To: C Johnson, The District Fire Insurance Company, Leamington [Warwickshire].
From: The General Board of Health.
Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 3 February 1854. It is stated in reply the Board does not think that an insurance company can be considered a 'public company', under the terms of Section 19 of the Public Health Act 1848, and that as a member of a Local Board he cannot, 'without incurring the disability imposed by that Section', be engaged in any transaction which a Local Board may make with such Insurance Company, of which he is an agent and in which he is presumed to have a share.
