To: A Haymes, Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Leamington [Warwickshire].
From: The General Board of Health.
Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 21 December 1853, expressing the surprise of the Leamington Local Board of Health at certain extracts contained in a report recently issued by The General Board of Health, with reference to the drainage of Croydon [Surrey], which makes reference to the district of Leamington. By way of reply, a copy of a printed report from the Plymouth [Devonshire] Committee of Ratepayers is said to be herewith enclosed and the attention of the Leamington Local Board is called to a certain statement alleged to have been received from Leamington and to have been signed 'William Carpenter, Chairman of the Local Board'.
