Folios 123-125.
To: Henry Austin, Chief Superintending Inspector, The General Board of Health.
From: J Lyon Alexander, Surveyor, 7 Castle Street, Holborn, London.
Letter stating in reply to Austin's question as to the 'amount of reduction (if any) supposing 10 sets of the Leamington plans were coloured', that his tender was based on the supposition that at least a dozen coloured copies would be required. Alexander suggests that if the whole were coloured, 'or say two dozen sets', he may be able to do them for less than stated. He further explains, with reference to 'the deep red line', that his tender was based on the supposition that the red line would be omitted and replaced with a 'black shadow line'. He suggests that if the black line were also omitted, 'a small reduction might be made in the price of the lithography, but too small to be worth noticing'. Alexander also advises that he wishes to see Austin respecting the survey of Halstead [Leicestershire/Kent], which he is about to make.
