Cedric Henning BELFRAGE: British. A left-wing journalist in Los Angeles in the 1930s, BELFRAGE worked during the war first for the British Security Coordination in New York then the Political War Executive in London. This work took him to Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) in Paris to deal with press affairs. In 1946 the US authorities learned that he had been passing information to Soviet Intelligence in the 1940s. He was arrested in 1953 and served with a deportation warrant. Back in Britain and thereafter BELFRAGE remained in regular contact with communists and communist-linked organisations
