Description

Envelope mounted on reverse of card divider item 58 with typed caption, 'Class S2 No 825 Stumpf Uniflow Cylinders' containing photographic images of this North Eastern Railway [Raven] 4-6-0 locomotive:

1) Monochrome postcard with manuscript caption on reverse, 'No 825 on Up goods near Darlington [County Durham] as originally built with Stumpf [Uniflow] cylinders [and outside Walschaerts valve gear], NER [North Eastern Railway] Class S2 LNER [London and North Eastern Railway] Class B15, William Rogerson negative No 206 dated 18 May 1923' [locomotive still in NER livery], 8cm x 13cm, see also item 50 and sub-items 2-3.

2) Monochrome postcard published by Locomotive Publishing Company in 'The Locomotive Magazine' series No 2222, locomotive No 825 [in works photographic grey livery at Stooperdale Works, Darlington, County Durham] [image 1913], 9cm x 14cm, see also item 50 and sub-items 1, 3.

3) Colour postcard No T C 13 printed by Richard Tilling with printed caption on reverse, 'NER [North Eastern Railway] No 825 4-6-0 Express Goods Locomotive With Stumpf [Uniflow] Cylinders Built 1913, Converted To Standard Type [Cylinders] 1924, Now LNER [London and North Eastern Railway Class B15] No 825', reproduction of oil painting by F Moore [image c.1913], 9cm x 14cm, see also item 50 and sub-items 1-2.
