Description

Envelope mounted on card divider item 18 with typed caption 'V / V1 [officially designated V/09] 2-Cylinders' containing photographic images of these classes of North Eastern Railway 4-4-2 locomotives [designated Class C6 by London and North Eastern Railway]:

1) Monochrome postcard published by F Moore's Railway Photographs No 0864 with typed caption on reverse, 'London and North Eastern Railway [W Worsdell / Raven Class V/09 Atlantic] 4-4-2 Passenger [Locomotive] No 705 Class C7 [sic, actually C6] ex-NER' [image c.1935 at London Road Locomotive Depot Carlisle, Cumberland], 9cm x 14cm.

2) Cutting [from 'The Railway Magazine'] undated, monochrome photographic image with typed caption underneath, 'North Eastern Railway An East Coast Train Picking Up Water [at Wiske Moor Water Troughs] Near Northallerton [North Riding of Yorkshire]', [W Worsdell Class V] locomotive No 295 with a mixture of clerestory and eliptical roofed coaches, photographed by E Pouteau [image c.1920].

3) Cutting [from 'The Railway Magazine' Volume 31 1912 page 399], monochrome photographic image with typed caption underneath, 'North Eastern Railway One Of The Original Atlantics At [Edinburgh] Waverley', [W Worsdell Class V 4-4-2] locomotive No 1680, photographed by W S Gray [image c.1912].

4) Monochrome postcard published by Locomotive Publishing Company No 431 with printed caption on front, 'NER Atalntic Express Locomotive No 532', [the first NER Atlantic 4-4-2, W Worsdell Class V] [image c.1910 at York], 9cm x 14cm.
