The humble petition of Alexander Brand of Brandfield, knight. Regarding his claims to crown rents and annual bishops rents on Orkney and Zelland [Shetland]. Having purchased 3 parcels of arms during the 1690s in Holland for the defence of the government's interest (value £3,513, 13s 0d), they were removed into a place of safety (namely Edinburgh Castle) during the invasion [scare] of 1708.
