Description

Envelope, typed 'Mr G W J Potter',dated 3 April 1953, with brief typed biography, referencing article in May 1939 'Railway Magazine' [probably incorrectly, as there are no relevent articles in that issue], containing 5 manuscript letters to W E Hayward, and three cards:

Manuscript letters:

1) [21 April 1950] enclosing railway ticket for the '[South] Shields, Marsden and Whitburn Colliery [Railway]'.

2) [17 January 1953] on death of T R [Thomas Richard] Perkins.

3) [20 February 1953] enclosing miscellaneous tickets and enquiring over progress on Hayward's collection.

4) [16 March 1953] to accompany the transfer of his ticket collection.

5) [21 April 1953] from Mrs Potter notifying Mr Hayward of Mr Potter's death on 10 April.

Cards:

6) Christmas card manuscript dated 1949.

7) Christmas gift card, undated [c 1950].

8) Index card, typed note on front 'Platform Tickets, [16 June 1956]' and manuscript 'extract' on reverse from article in '[Railway Magazine, November and December 1943]' by G W J Potter concerning introduction of Railway Platform Tickets.
