WORK 59
1951-1974
This series contains registered files of the Chief Information Officer's Branch of the Directorate of Establishments. They are concerned with publicity and the dissemination of information. They cover measures for ancient monuments, the publication of guidebooks, reports on sales and attendances at ancient monument sites, and minutes and papers of the Ancient Monuments Presentation Committee, which was responsible for publicizing ancient monuments. Also included are papers on the preparation for the lying in state of Sir Winston Churchill and arrangements for a press visit to the Building Research Station at Garston.
Most files were registered in the EG series, which appears to have been raised in 1960. Most of the material in the series dates from the 1960s but there are some re-registered files that originated in the 1950s.
