Description

This series contains correspondence and papers relating to purchases of land, accommodation, building or maintenance of the Department of Practical Art, the School of Design, the various national galleries and museums, the Imperial College of Science, the Imperial Institute, the National Physical Laboratory and other research establishments. There are also files relating to the opening up of the Cabinet War Rooms to the public.

The majority of files were registered in the AF series, though some earlier papers are in unregistered folders. Some files date from after the creation of the Department of the Environment and the Property Services Agency.
