Reports conversation on his homeward voyage with M Merland Pouty, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Senegal, Niger who stated that the French occupation of Gadez and Bilma had occurred as a result of the approach of a Turkish expedition, accompanied by Vischer who was at first thought to have been a German.
