Folio(s) 75-76. Letter from [the Reverend Alexander Bunn Haden], Staffordshire magistrate, at Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, reporting the issue of cards, valued at one to ten shillings, supposedly to make up for the shortage of silver coinage. Fraud and counterfeiting was widespread and the labouring poor were suffering in particular. Haden seeks Government advice before imposing penalties on the issuers following proper legal process.
