Folios 602-603. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, in answer to the enquiry about the discrepancy between the numbers given for male occupiers of property worth over £10 per year [911] and for those renting property worth over £6 [800] in Kidderminster Borough. Occupiers of property under £10 rental have never been noted, and landlords of such property pay a compound rate. 'Gross estimated value' refers to tenements including land with or without buildings. The 'Rateable value returns' refer to occupiers of buildings with or without land, therefore the former number is the greater. For property over £6 in rateable value but under £7, the weekly rent would be 3s 7d to 3s 9d.
Annotated: deposit with other explanation. Sent the returns back to the clerk for revision.
