Description

Envelope, typed '0-6-0 'DX' Goods 'Cauliflower'', containing one photograph, one postcard, and six cuttings, all with monochrome photographic images of LNWR [London and North Western Railway] 0-6-0 locomotives:

1) Photograph, 8cm x 13cm, side view of locomotive No 1026 outside shed [possibly Crewe c 1890], manuscript note on reverse under cover sheet ' Six Coupled Express Goods Engine, Driving Wheels 5 feet [diameter]'.

2) Postcard, 9cm x 14cm, side three-quarter view of locomotive No 801 with coach, manuscript note on reverse '[East] Croydon 8/21 [August 1921]', and stamped 'G J Morris, Brighton Miscellaneous List No 942'.

3) Cutting, 'Railway World', February 1965, two trains passing over Bushey Watertroughs, one hauled by an unidentified 0-6-0 'DX' Goods.

4) Cutting, unidentified, undated publication [c 1938], side view of locomotive No 578, 'Ramsbottom's DX Goods Engine 1858 [to] 1872, The British Steam Railway Locomotive 1825 [to] 1925'.

5) Cutting, unidentified, undated publication [c 1930], 'Cambridge [to] Bletchley Train near Trumpington LMSR [London Midland and Scottish Railway], Webb's 'Cauliflower' class 0-6-0 locomotive No 8439'.

6) Cutting, unidentified, undated publication [c 1925], 'Ex LNWR 0-6-0 No 8458 and ex LYR [Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway] 0-6-0 No 12257 on Blackpool Excursion passing Longwood, LMSR [London Midland and Scottish Railway]'.

7) Cutting, typed note on reverse under cover 'Model Railway Constructor August 1955', 'A front end view of LNWR 18 [inches] 0-6-0 Goods [Locomotive]' showing close up of lower smokebox and buffer beam.

8) Cutting, duplicate of 7.
