Folio(s) 130-131. Letter from the Reverend John Robinson, at Southwold [Suffolk], reporting the discovery of an anonymous letter in the street in Southwold. Robinson expresses his determination, as a clergyman of the Church of England, to increase the loyalty of the population.
The appended copy of the letter is addressed to the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth. It warns of public dissatisfaction with the present Parliament and the belief that scarcity of corn is entirely due to 'the consolidating of farms and monopolizing dealers'. It adds that 'The nation in general is already ripe for mutiny', and that if there were to be 'a Cromwell at the head of the Army, the most dreadful scene of massacre & bloodshed will ensue'.
