Folio(s) 128-129. Letter from Reverend John Lowe, magistrate, of Wentworth [Yorkshire, West Riding], stating that he has not been authorised by the inhabitants of Sheffield to offer a reward for the identification of the instigators of recent seditious meetings. He is willing to risk obtaining the agreement of fellow magistrates to the placing of an advertisement in the Gazette offering a reward of £100, to be paid by the Treasurer of the Riding, and signed by John Foljambe, Deputy Clerk of the Peace. The advertisement can then be copied in the Sheffield papers. Lowe reports that although there had been repeated meetings of the people, advance information had thus far allowed them to be dispersed within a few minutes.
