Folios 453-456.
To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: J D Wadham, Small Street, Bristol [Gloucestershire].
Letter enclosing a further application to the Home Secretary to put in force the powers conferred on him by Section 49 of the Sanitary Act 1866. Wadham explains that six months have now elapsed since his last letter to The Local Government Act Office and that Frog Marsh Drain, in the parish of St George, remains 'in exactly the same state' with 'no effectual steps' having been taken by the local authority 'to mitigate the nuisance which goes on increasing with the increase of building in that part of the parish'. He states that 'it is not as if the nuisance was difficult to be dealt with - it is only a question of a very limited expenditure, as the drains are of no great length and can easily be carried into the Bristol main sewage system, which crosses their outlet'.
