Sir Ludwig Guttmann and the birth of the Paralympic Games
In the summer of 1948, neurologist Ludwig Guttmann set up a sporting competition between patients. It was the birth of the Paralympic Games.

Websites and the building of a London 2012 online community was the responsibility of the New Media Team; part of the Communications and Public Affairs Department.
The websites, www.locogrecruitment.com/jobs/main , www.prestigeticketing.london2012.com/ and www.tickets.london2012.com were not offered for preservation by LOCOG.
The planning portal www.planning.london2012.com/ is also not preserved. The paper public records of these planning records (created by the Olympic Development Authority) are in the custody of the London Legacy Development Company (formerly the Olympic Park Legacy Company) on loan from the National Archives under a memorandum of understanding.
